Image & Copyright Policy
Ownership, permission, provenance and credit.
Images are part of our editorial record. Their origin and permissions matter.
What we publish
Images must be owned, licensed, supplied with permission by artists or brands, public domain, or otherwise legally usable. We do not scrape and republish copyrighted photography.
Credits should identify the creator or photographer, artwork where relevant, source and rights status. Where an original editorial diagram accompanies a story about an artwork, its caption must make clear that it is not a reproduction of that artwork.
Reuse and rights enquiries
Consult each image’s caption and original source record before reuse. Public-domain images and commissioned or original graphics may have different terms. Rights enquiries should identify the image, article URL and claimed rights, through the channel on our Contact page once available.
